a5c7b9f00b Down these mean streets a man must come. A hero born, murdered, and born again. When a Rookie cop named Denny Colt returns from the beyondThe Spirit, a hero whose mission is to fight against the bad forces from the shadows of Central City. The Octopus who kills anyone unfortunate enough to see his face who has other plans. He's going to wipe out the entire city. The Spirit tracks this cold hearted killer from the city's rundown warehouses, to the damp catacombs, to the windswept waterfront all the while facing a bevy of beautiful women who either want to seduce, love or kill the masked crusader. Rookie cop Denny Colt returns from the beyondThe Spirit, a hero whose mission is to fight against the bad forces in Central City. I walked into a screening of The Spirit knowing nothing about it. I knew it was a comic book movie but that was all. After I finished watching it, I felt the same way. The movie is a garbled collection of fanboy fantasies and makes no effort to appeal to other audiences. The entire plot takes twenty minutes of screen time, and the rest of the movie strains to fill in the gaps.

Apparently the Spirit is a superhero of some kind in forever snowy Central City. He has a menace named The Octopus who has a very stock desire to rule the world. In order to do that properly, The Octopus has to become immortal by combining his science project data with the blood of Hercules. He steals a treasure chest that happens to be located in Central City but takes the wrong one. Yes, the other treasure chest on the lake floor, has a valuable jewel desired by femme-fatale Sand Saref. She and Spirit had a romantic fling which is rekindled when The Octopus offers to exchange his chest for hers. I'm uncertain if this actually occurs in the comics, but I'm shocked that a plot this outlandish could pass storyboard. It sounds like a bad villain-of-the-week plot device from a children's TV show. The movie spends half its running time creating conflict for the Spirit before we know anything about him. We finally receive some back story between Spirit and Sand Saref but it does nothing to forward the narrative. In modern time, the two pretend to convince us that they are on opposing sides of the law and make out. The climax is thus incapable of being satisfying. It's just a forced ending to an overly-winded film.

That's all for plot, but at least the movie looks cool. Frank Miller applies his digital world approach that was original in Sin City, overwhelming in 300, but appropriate here. There is a video game, cell shading quality to it that works for creating neo-noir post Blade Runner. After having watched the film once, what I most remember is the Spirit's red necktie in contrast with the black background. As you watch it, you'll appreciate the appearance of the film more than its content. It's unfortunate such interesting visuals have no real purpose. When the Spirit runs across the rooftops of Central City, I was reminded of the opening segments of Batman: The Animated Series. Both feature a masked character racing across buildings in a linear path with other rooftops in the background. Miller's style allows the buildings to stand out against a white backdrop which creates potential for other, hopefully better movies.

I was also disappointed with the script. This is movie that desperately wants to emulate Batman's noir superhero approach but cannot. The dialog is neutered to get a PG-13 rating and is sophomoric. The word "fart" is actually used to address someone. "Toilets are always funny" is another sampling which is painful to hear from Samuel Jackson's character, The Octopus. The Octopus is the focal point of the movie and has more screen time than Spirit. Spirit's dialog isn't better but it isn'tembarrassing. Most of it centers on his insatiably flirtations personality which his is incapable of containing. It's amusing at first but its appeal shouldn't be the entire focus of the character. All the female characters reveal cleavage, except Spirit's girlfriend, who commands our sympathy. How could she love such a one dimensional character? If you were to compose a list fanboy movie formula, it would include a reference to this movie. Frank Miller's movie has copied the first four modern batman pictures' look and style but has magnified their mistakes. This franchise deserves better treatment than this, and I expect a reboot to occur. With Iron Man and The Dark Knight representing the best of superhero pictures this year, The Spirit is the worst.

* out of ***** First off, this film is way more stylized than Sin City. It was Great.

The movie was funnyhell and really different than the stupid kids crap that was playing on the other screens. Shame on Adam Sandler, Owen (Who cares about you anymore) Wilson and Jennifer Aniston for selling themselves to the kids market. I had a sigh of relief when i saw this film cause it gave me hope that somewhere out there somebody is being creative with the material they have and actually made a great film. What Frank Miller did here was clever and way more imaginative than Sin City was. The Cast was superb. Sam Jackson gets my top vote in this movie, so does Eva Mendez's ass, lol. I was getting tired of the recent films Jackson had been in (Snakes on a plane is to name one). He really came through in this movie and gives a really great performance. I recommend everyone to see this movie. It is truly a mess. The Spirit is based on a 1940s newspaper strip of the same name by American comics writer Will Eisner [1917-2005]. It was adapted for the screen by comics artist and screenwriter Frank Miller, best known for his Sin City comics. Ellen Dolan (Sarah Paulson): The daughter of Commissioner Dolan, in her pre-war appearances she tried to win the affection of The Spirit by getting into trouble which required The Spirit's assistance. After the war, the relationship evolved with a romantic affection between the two strongly implied. In later years (in November 1950), Ellen ran and won the role of Mayor of Central City.

Commissioner Dolan (Dan Lauria): The Police Commissioner of Central City, he met The Spirit on his first adventure and although knowing that The Spirit was Denny Colt was under orders to apprehend The Spirit for the first few months. Although Dolan's first name was always given"Eustace" in all his post-war Spirit tales, he was called "Diogenes" by his sister-in-law in one pre-war story.

The Octopus (Samuel L. Jackson): The Spirit's arch nemesis, The Octopus never showed his face in the stories but readers could always identify the character by the distinctive gloves he always wore. A master of disguise, The Octopus was involved in the epic fight with The Spirit which left Denny Colt blinded.

Checklist of appearances

14 July 1946 - "The Postage Stamp"

17 November 1946 - "Return to Caramba"

1 December 1946 - "The Portier Fortune"

6 July 1947 - "Wanted - Mortimer J. Singing a hypnotic song that mesmerizes her victims, this statesque woman almost caused The Spirit to come to grief.

Sand Saref (Eva Mendes): First createda character for the John Law comic, Sand Seref is shownhaving known Denny Colta childwellknowing that he is now The Spirit. Returning to life he assumes the guise of The Spirit and wages a one-man war against crime and injustice. Although he has no superpowers, The Spirit is able to take practically an endless amount of physical punishment. It is also suggested that the chemicals in which he was doused in have prolonged his life. Huevos rancheros is a popular dish eaten for breakfast in Mexico. Basically it's composed of a couple of sunny side up eggs over a couple of corn tortillas with hot tomato or chili sauce poured over them, served with beans and cheese. The reason why the clones are called that is uncertain, possibly only for comical reasonswellthe Adios Amigos clones at the end. In Spanish slang, huevos refer to testicles, so it could be some form of reference to thembeing badasses (hot temper and big… huevos). Other than Frank Miller adapting this film, and the visual style used for both films, there are no connections. To get the 12 rating, George Miller needed to make some modifications: three cuts were made plus one digital modification. This is also the version shown in movie theaters. The uncut version was released by Lionsgate on DVD and Blu-ray disc, is rated 15 and it's called "Extended Cut". tamil movie Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows free downloadhindi The Drop InAround the World in 80 Days download movie freeInvas o em 1 Pessoa movie in hindi hd free downloadThe Weight of Blood and Bones movie hindi free downloadCollider full movie hd 1080p download kickass moviedownload Thor: The Dark WorldBatman Beyond tamil dubbed movie downloadUpgrade in hindi 720pTeam Cherokee: Part 1 in hindi download
